The Dirty Lab

So our CEO toured the labs this past week. I suspect it was all a ploy to get us to clean up the labs really, since he sent maybe 10 minutes tops in each lab, and barely looked at anything that wasn't brand-spankin'-new.

Don't get me wrong. I like a clean lab. Screw the addage that a messy lab is a productive lab. I'd like to be productive and clean, thankyouverymuch. So I did most of the cleaning, but since my projects are winding down I didn't mind. I did some organizing as well - ordered bins to organize samples by notebook code instead of having a giant pile, got an acrylic glove dispenser box, that sort of thing. And it looks good, and neat. And everyone is pleased with the munkey.

And not 5 minutes later a certain coworker had shoved a notebook upwards, knocking over a beaker full of pens, pencils, scissors, and forceps, breaking it into pieces....and left it there. Along with a dirty spatula and used kimwipe on the cleared bench space... no I didn't kill him, though I wanted to.

Besides that, the lab has remained fairly clean. But since the past week has been wrap up and writing rather than sample analysis...I'm not too surprised. Once new projects start up and new rounds of samples are getting pushed through...well then it will be a mess again.

Eeee Eee Eeee! (An Introduction)

About this blog:
This blog is about science. All things science. It will probably be mostly biology and chemistry related, but a bit of everything will make its way across. And in today's world, it's virtually impossible to talk science without talking about the science-religion war, thus this blog will also cover religion to a degree. Chances are high that issues of feminism and civil rights and other things will also make their way into this blog. The main point of this all is keep informed of current science news and events, and to keep writing.

About the Chem Munkey:

The ChemMunkey carries a zoology bachelor's of science, recently graduated but works as a chemist for a pharmaceutical company. No it's not a BigPharma, and that is all the ChemMunkey will say about that. The ChemMunkey is also an atheistmunkey, and a feministmunkey and many other sorts of munkeys as well. The ChemMunkey also has a partner munkey, who she lives with. From here on in we shall call him TCEM- The ChemEngineerMunkey, who works for the government at the moment. The ChemMunkey is a silly munkey who passionately loves just about all things science, but especially animals. As much as the ChemMunkey loves animals however, the ChemMunkey loves her family more, and thus works as a chemist near home instead of trekking across country to a zoo. One day, the ChemMunkey will find a comfy zoo to call home, but until then, she will continue to swing around the lab.
